Hello everyone! Haven't drawn anything in a while, so I decided I'd do a little something because:

A) Wanted to get some sort of concept down for this guy
B) I haven't tried my scanner since I moved away from home and this was the test drawing for it.

(His drawing was so light, I had to darken it a bit)

The Boogeyman is a very well known imaginary creature/monster. It doesn't necessarily have a definite appearance (in some countries it's a hooded figure, in others a troll, and some say he's a shapeshifter, and so on), but most boogeymen have one thing in common: they all hunt children who are naughty or don't go to bed on time/stay out late. Growing up, I was most accustomed to the fact that the Boogeyman hid under children's beds (though could be any monster down there. Course, with all the toys and boxes I had under by bed growing up, didn't have much to worry about if I were ever afraid. Have fun down there, buddy, squeezing through all my stuff).

In any case, it's only natural one of the biggest nightmares in Destay's world (one of the power houses) would be the Boogeyman. While Calixta is still the worst threat the nightmare world has to offer, the Boogeyman is a very unique and formidable nightmare.

For one, he appears without warning and without a sound. His presence is undetectable and he can manifest in a room within seconds and leave just as quickly. He can sink into the floors, walk through walls, and even evaporate into thin air. His cloak appears pitch black which hides him against dark backgrounds, especially at night. His sleeves, when his hands appear from under his cloak, however, seem to flow like muddy water when he reaches out for children asleep in their beds. He has been known to drown them in their sleep, especially if children sleep with their mouths open or if he is disappointed in his find. He is known to appear under beds, in closets, or dark spaces/corners of one's home.

The Boogeyman is incapable of speech due to the amount of water he can never seem to dislodge, and his mouth always hanging slackjaw with water constantly dripping down his chin (those who have survived his attacks, however, do say that they can almost "feel" his words deep in their hearts). His expression his blank, his features bluish white, and only on rare occasions does his expression differ from his distant look. He has been underestimated by many who think him brain dead. His hair is tangled mess, sticking to his hunched back. He is a very tall nightmare with a towering presence, and even with his head hunched low on his figure he is still known to look down upon his enemies. His hands are shriveled and cold to the touch.

Surprisingly, even though the Boogeyman is a well feared creature, this nightmare is the product of one person's constant nightmares which makes him a very special being. The Boogeyman is constantly in search of children, whether they are naughty or good, and will not cease in his efforts until he finds the ones he's looking for and the ones he wishes to take revenge upon.

Though he can appear without detection and can move through solid objects, he is quite slow and lumbering so one can outrun him long enough to find a way to defeat him. However, no one has yet to find out how to defeat him and it is guessed that he cannot be defeated until his "soul" is one day at peace.
